Scribbler V3 3D Printing Pen Review
3Doodler is arguably the most famous brand in 3D printing pens. They're known for producing the first consumer-ready 3D pen, and continue to deliver year after year with newer, better versions of their flagship product. This review looks at their newest offering, the 3Doodler Create, to determine if the company is maintaining their reputation as pioneers of 3D printing pens.
3Doodler Create 3D Printing Pen Review Basics
This sleek pen has seen an upgrade from the 3Doodler 2.0, making it a bit smaller and lighter, and definitely quieter. The pen is 0.7 x 0.7 x 6.3 inches, making it one of the thinner craft-quality 3D pens, and it weighs about the same as its predecessor with a 50g aluminum shell. Featuring a .7mm nozzle, you can use 3mm ABS and PLA filaments with this pen. Packaging includes 25 strands of each to get you started.
The 3Doodler Create heats up to 240 degrees Celsius, controlled by the Hi-Lo 2-button system. Speed is similarly controlled with two options: Fast and Slow.
3Doodler Create 3D Printing Pen Review Pros
This is a truly foolproof 3D pen, making it great for beginners, children, and crafters who are not necessarily tech-savvy. First, it comes with a comprehensive set of instructions that teaches you how to operate the pen, how to maintain it for optimum longevity, and how to troubleshoot any issues by yourself. This comes in especially handy for those unavoidable clogs, for which the 3Doodler Create also comes equipped with a convenient Unblocking Tool.
The 3Doodler Create takes the guesswork out of picking the right temperature or speed setting. There are just two temperature settings, Hi and Lo, meant to facilitate ABS and PLA respectively. There’s even an upgraded light bar that lets you know when the pen is properly heated. Speed also has two settings, Slow and Fast, though we recommend Slow as your default for its even and manageable extrusion rate.
Useful Accessory Options
3Doodler is all about the upsell, offering some of the best additional accessories in the 3D pen market. Nozzle replacements in various sizes and shapes can be purchased, as can the JetPack, which is a portable battery pack. Perhaps the most useful, however, is the simple DoodlePad, a clear plastic grid that can be drawn on for safe removal of your projects. Sketch or print your next idea on regular paper, slip it under this helpful grid, and start doodling without ruining your stencil.

3Doodler Create 3D Printing Pen Review Cons
Uses 3mm Filaments
The most obvious pitfall of this pen remains its use of 3mm filaments. While there is nothing inherently worse about the quality of 3mm filament compared to 1.75mm, it is more expensive to replace and could end up costing you more in the long run against other 3D pens. Smaller filaments also melt faster, allowing you to extrude faster, though this is not always necessary when it comes to 3D pens.
3Doodler Create 3D Printing Pen Review Verdict
3Doodler continues to deliver user-friendly 3D pens, and the Create is a great example of this. It’s incredibly easy to use, featuring just 4 buttons and an ultra-convenient ambient light that lets you know when it’s properly heated. With the Unblocking Tool and removable nozzle, clogs are easier than ever to fix, so you’ll have less down time and more draw time. The design is beautiful, and the slim aluminum body feels natural in the hand, similar to a marker or highlighter.
If you choose to take advantage of this pen’s optional accessories, it becomes even simpler to recreate your artistic vision in 3D right before your eyes. We recommend this pen to beginners and intermediate users alike for its super simple operation and versatility.
