da Vinci Jr. 1.0 3D Printer Pros

Easy Set-up

This printer has been designed for “junior” aka beginner makers. One of the most important things to do after unboxing a 3D printer is calibration. The da Vinci Jr. is easy to calibrate. It starts printing accurately straight out of the box. All you need to do is unbox, and feed the filament into the extruder and plug in the printer. It is that simple!

Affordable Price

Most other 3D printers, with similar specifications, are priced between $700 and $1500. The da Vinci Jr. is priced affordably under $400. The da Vinci Jr. is one of the most affordable 3D printers on the market today. Important features such as nozzle diameter and printing resolution are similar to those of higher end 3D printers.

da Vinci Jr. 1.0 3D Printer Cons

Proprietary Filament

The use of proprietary filament spools is one of biggest drawbacks of this printer. The filament spools are equipped with an RFID chip which communicates with the printer. The presence of this chip is mandatory for the printer to function. This translates into buying spools of filament from XYZPrinting only. For most this won’t be a problem, and the filament is not costly.

PLA Only

This 3D printer has been designed for PLA filaments only. Keep in mind that this 3D printer is designed for beginners, and PLA filament is both easy to use and bio-degradable.

da Vinci Jr. 1.0 3D Printer Review Verdict

The da Vinci Jr. is an affordable, high resolution, and fully enclosed 3D printer. These are features usually only found in more expensive 3D printers. If you are looking for an affordable 3D printer that is feature rich, the da Vinci Jr. may be the 3D printer you are looking for.
