Airwolf 3D Axiom 3D Printer Review Results
On paper, Airwolf's Axiom looks like the perfect 3D printer. It's big, fast, versatile, and looks great, so what's the catch? In this AW3D Axiom 3D printer review, we dive deeper into this printer to determine if it really is the revolutionary machine the company claims.
Airwolf 3D Axiom 3D Printer Review Basics
Get ready to be amazed by the impressive specs this printer boasts. The ceramic glass heated printing bed can reach temperatures of up to 140C, ensuring easy removal and dependable reproduction.
The bed measures a mammoth 12 x 8.5 x 10-inch print space for 1,000 cubic inches of build volume. Print at temperatures up to 315C from the included .5mm or .35mm nozzle, meaning you can use almost any 3mm filament including polycarbonate and nylon.
The folks at Airwolf 3D have really outdone themselves, offering a print speed of 250mm/s and a move speed of 400mm/s. Expect 40 micron resolution with the advanced CoreXY system.
Airwolf 3D Axiom 3D Printer Review Pros
Impatient printers rejoice, the Axiom was built with you in mind. With printing speeds up to 250mm/s, the Airwolf 3D Axiom blows the competition out of the water. It easily prints at twice or more of the speed of other printers in its class. Traverse speeds are equally dizzying, coming in at 400mm/s, but don’t worry about the integrity of your prints. The enclosed printing space and well-heated print bed ensure your prints are smooth and unwarped.
Wireless or connected, your choice with the Axiom. Choose to connect through USB or Ethernet for wired printing, or use a micro SD card or Wi-Fi for untethered connectivity.
Arguably the least enjoyable part of 3D printing, with other printers you have to manually calibrate the printing bed very precisely before every job. This can be frustrating at best and ruin your print at worst. The Axiom automatically calibrates the print bed in seconds so you can spend more time on the fun stuff.
Airwolf 3D Axiom 3D Printer Review Cons
Unfortunately, for all of its amazing specs of this printer, it suffers some mechanical issues. While our prints were made quickly and accurately, the machine is loud, and the motors are a key point of contention for some users.
We suffered no clogs, but some of the surrounding hot end parts can also cause problems, like the substandard tubing. You’ll want a 3D printer that requires less troubleshooting if you’re not mechanically inclined.
Airwolf 3D Axiom 3D Printer Review Verdict
Axiom set out to make a premium, user-friendly machine with the addition of the self-calibrating print bed and removable end-user replacement cassette (ERC). In many ways, they were successful.
This is one of the most versatile printers we’ve worked with, especially considering its print material list. That said, expect to replace some parts over time as some of this printer’s shortcomings come to light.
For this reason, we recommend this printer to anyone looking for unbeatable print speed, connectivity options, and filament choices who doesn’t mind tinkering and upgrading as the printer’s mechanical issues arise. It seems Airwolf 3D was just a little ahead of themselves with this fine printer.
